MA – The MACBEE Project

The MACBEE (Macadamia, Coffee, and Bee) Project is an agroforestry initiative designed to support coffee farmers in Uganda’s Greater Masaka region. By integrating macadamia trees and beekeeping into coffee farms, the project provides shade, enhances pollination, and diversifies income sources for farmers. Additionally, the project focuses on strengthening cooperatives to improve market access, value addition, and resource provision using digital tools like the FarmerLink App for farm planning and traceability. MACBEE aims to enhance farmers’ resilience by promoting climate-smart practices and ensuring access to premium markets and carbon credits. The project is inclusive, with specific targets for women, youth, and persons with disabilities, fostering equitable participation and financial independence.
