The project “Learn, Grow, Thrive” aims to improve the rights, protection, education, and future opportunities of children and adolescents with disabilities (C&AWDs) in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta. C&AWDs in the region face barriers such as limited access to schools, insufficient early intervention, low teacher capacity, stigma, and weak safeguarding mechanisms. These result in poor learning outcomes, low life skills, and restricted employment prospects.
Strengthening Early Intervention (EI) SystemsChildren aged 0–6 with disabilities will receive regular services through resource centers and preschools, while parents, caregivers, teachers, and education managers are trained to support their development. This helps children transition smoothly to mainstream education, improving readiness for learning.
Enhancing Inclusive Education
Teachers and education managers will be trained in inclusive approaches, and schools upgraded for accessibility with learning corners to support academic and social goals. C&AWDs will fully participate in school life and receive support for higher education. Communities, parents, and children will be educated on disability rights and safeguarding, fostering supportive environments and reducing risks of neglect and abuse.
Life Skills and Safeguarding
C&AWDs will receive training to build confidence, self-management, and resilience. Schools will organize safeguarding events and awareness campaigns, teaching children to protect themselves and respond to abuse, creating safer, more inclusive learning and community environments.
The project targets 1,000 children and adolescents with disabilities, 200 youth for vocational training, 1,300 teachers and managers, 4,500 parents and local authorities, and 13,800 other students across 60 schools in 11 communes, ensuring broad and lasting impact.
