Projects

Local partners implement development projects in their own contexts for the benefit of the project participants and their communities. The shared general goal that unites the Digni fellowship is empowered communities and individuals who live in dignity.

Digni’s main strategy for change is cooperation with grassroots organisations, partnering with marginalised communities and individuals. The projects use rights-based and asset-based approaches which mobilise local resources. Networking and forming strategic alliances are important, as well as cooperation with (and challenging) relevant authorities.

TCP Phase 2 builds on outcomes and lessons learnt from phase 1 (2018 - 2021),. It contributes to engaging target churches in gender responsive initiatives by mobilizing own resources in such a way that all forms of violence against girls and women are eliminated in the church structures and communities. TCP  instrumentalises the Contextual Bible Study Methodology (CBS) and biblical texts addressing Gender Based Violence (GBV), particularly the story of Tamar, as a model of transformation. Former TCP facilitators will be trained as Ambassadors, who also train and mentor new facilitators in conducting CBS in target congregations. Experience sharing and network meetings will inspire the churches to institutionalize and adopt the Tamar Campaign as a model of gender responsive transformation. This project is implemented by NMS in three countries; Madagascar, Cameroon and Ethiopia..

We plan to use a marketdriven business model grounded to create a collaborative eco-system of stakeholders to support the development of Cambodian entrepreneurs and businesses as they become ‘4P businesses’ – businesses focused on ‘profit, purpose, people and planet’. As part of this project, MABD will develop three vehicles in Cambodia as a pilot – the MA Academy (to develop competent entrepreneurs), MA Connect platform (to connect entrepreneurs and investors) and the MABD Advisory (to provide assurance and consulting services), with the intent for further expansion to other MA centres.

Achieving Disability Inclusive Development through Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) in Okhaldhunga, Nepal is the first CBR project for people living with disability in this district. People with disability (PWD) and their families are among the most marginalised groups in Nepal, frequently excluded from mainstream development and from participation in society. The goal of this project is simply to reverse this situation by transforming Okhaldhunga into a disability-inclusive society. This will mean PWD and their families will experience full access to and participation in every aspect of the community in which they live and become valuable contributers to society. The project includes every kind of disability, their families and carers.  It prioritises those with more severe disability, those experiencing greater stigma and those marginalised by caste, gender and remote location.  The project’s main focus is on empowering PWD and building the capacity of the existing government and civil society structures, so that when the project ends, the work continues. The project uses the Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) strategy to implement its goals.  The ‘twin-track’ development approach is used.  This integrates disability issues into mainstream development using a rights based approach, while at the same time assisting in the provision of specific services to address the needs of PWD.  The CBR Matrix five components of health, education, social, livelihood and empowerment form the basis of the project design and activities.  All five components are addressed, with priority given to health, livelihoods and empowerment.

HP Empowering Parenthood in Nepal
Organisation: HimalPartner
Sector: Civil Society, Quality Education
Partner: Early Childhood Education Centre Pvt. Ltd.
This project is designed to increase the psychosocial wellbeing of the children in Nepal through improved parent-child communication. By introducing and integrating evidence-based effective child rearing practices (ICDP) in Nepal, the project will empower caregivers through collaboration with educational institutions, local government, and civil society bodies. This is the second phase of the project which started in 2014 with the aim to help establish ICDP in Nepal. During that project period all ICDP resources were translated into Nepali and a network of cooperating organizations was established. Schools and churches also implemented ICDP into their existing programs. The continuity of this project is necessary for the long-term sustainability of ICDP.  ICDP Nepal needs to function as a strong entity and develop strategies to increase the number of partners so they can spread this program to all the provinces. Focus on cooperation with local government entities will be key. Upscaling local training capacity is another important focus. Less dependency on international trainers is crucial for long-term sustainability of the program.  The learnings and recommendations from partners have encouraged ECEC to develop a research team that will research child development and child rearing practices. The findings of this research will be published, and the program will become evidence based. Another important feature of this project is the promotion of ICDP in different sectors of society including government entities, NGOs, INGOs and private schools. Through conferences, seminars and meetings there will be new opportunities to implement ICDP in both public and private sectors.
